We are an inclusive artist homestead located in the quaint village of Nelsonville, Wisconsin (pop. 191). This unique opportunity is for an artist, a couple, or an artist family to enjoy the stillness of Central Wisconsin. This fully furnished space (two beds, couch, kitchen supplies) is the perfect retreat for those working on a project, needing an escape or passing through in search of connecting with the land and self through their creative practice.

Folks will live in the two bedroom upstairs apartment. It has a large living room flooded with natural light, kitchen and small restroom. Participants will have designated access to the two room makerspace featuring fiber, printmaking, clay and general craft supplies. There is on site laundry, parking and utilities included. Folks may take advantage of the spaces workshops, talks from visiting artists and programming we have through partnerships.

We accept all folks to apply. Unfortunately this space is up a flight of stairs and difficult for some to access. Those with special needs may inquire about different spaces on the ground floor.

Folks are invited to stay a for as short as a weekend or as long as a year. Given its central location, it can also be utilized as a weekend getaway for those in the regional area. We are only 2-2.5 hours from Madison and Milwaukee and 3-3.5 from Chicago and Minneapolis. Use it as a central meeting place for long-distant collaborators needing to a place to convene to work.

Our property sits along the Tomorrow River. We are one mile from Lake Elaine and from the 40 acre Nelsonville Nature Sanctuary. Ruby Coffee roasts across the street in Downtown Nelsonville with a tasting room open on weekends. There is also yoga Wednesdays and Fridays in the old Wallers Market. For those looking to do more hands-on work, Art & Rugby operates their woodshop out of our historic barn. Their programming includes Monday night Tools & Basic Carpentry studio or you can learn to build a cedar strip canoe.

We are located 15 minutes from Stevens Point where folks can stock up on groceries from the local co-op or grab a bite to eat in the Historic Downtown area.

We are accepting project proposals, sliding scale opportunities, monetary & work trade agreements. We have a lot to do around our homestead coming into our second year and invite folks to participate in the building a new tomorrow for the Tomorrow River Homestead. We feel this gives opportunity for folks in all stages of their life to find space in rural Wisconsin taking the time they need to create art.
